Former President Donald Trump recently expressed his admiration for entrepreneur Elon Musk during a televised interview in York, Pennsylvania. When asked whether he would appoint Musk to his Cabinet if he were to win the upcoming elections in the United States, Trump stated, “He is a very intelligent guy; I would certainly consider him. He is brilliant.”
In a report for the British news agency Reuters, Trump praised Musk, indicating that he would contemplate appointing the billionaire as an advisor should he secure a second term in the White House. Trump reiterated that Musk would fit within an advisory or executive role in his potential Cabinet.
Musk has publicly supported Trump in recent weeks, particularly following an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated, “I fully support President Trump and wish for his swift recovery.”
In his remarks, Trump also discussed the possibility of ending a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, a subsidy that had been implemented by the Biden administration. Despite the fact that Tesla, Musk’s primary source of wealth, has benefited from the current administration’s policies, Musk recently tweeted that “the electric vehicle subsidies actually help my competitors more than they help Tesla.”
As Trump outlined his perspective during the Reuters interview, he emphasized that “tax credits and incentives are not particularly beneficial,” reflecting his broader stance on economic policy. Trump’s potential policies and his choice of advisors will likely play a crucial role in shaping the discourse of the upcoming electoral campaign.
